A four days field trip measuring the river flows, took place in June 2014 at the mountainous areas of Acheloos river.
At least ten transects perpendicular to the flow were placed for each of the three areas of study. An ultrasound Doppler current profiler was used for the deeper parts of the river transects, with fast flows. These data will be used in a later step for the set up and the calibration of a hydraulic model, which is part of the methodology for the estimation of the ecological flows for Greek rivers. At the same time water sampling and field measurements with portable instruments were collected for analysis in the laboratories of HCMR.
