Georgios Poulis received his B.Sc. in Forestry and his M.Sc. in Forest Botany – Geobotany from the Department of Forestry & Natural Environment, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Since then, he has been working as a forester, botanist and environmentalist. He has worked in the Diomedes Botanical Garden, the Greek Biotope/Wetlands Centre and as a freelance consultant. before joining IMBRIW-HCMR in 2019.
His experience lies mostly in the use of vegetation science for applications such as lake ecological status assessment, river ecological flow determination, wetland delineation, monitoring of climate change impacts and habitat typology.
He has also been involved in projects within the disciplines of hiking trails mapping, forest management, silviculture and environmental interpretation.
Within IMBRIW-HCMR, he is involved in river water monitoring, using both traditional and remote methods.
