She has a 30-year career in IMBRIW in the domain of Fisheries Biology and Ecology, Selectivity of fishing gears, Fishing technology and Fish Behaviour, Fisheries impact on biological resources and biodiversity, Deep-water biological resources and habitat and Anthropogenic impacts on them. She holds a position of Associate Researcher A’ since 2003.
She has attended special training courses in Fisheries Statistics, Fisheries biology of Crustaceans, Population dynamics, Ageing of Fish and Crustaceans, Fish hermaphroditism, gonad gametogenesis and histology and she is in the final phase of her Ph.D. Thesis on fishing gears selectivity at the University of Athens.
She has participated or co-ordinated 19 national and international projects and co-ordinated 5 European Union (EU) projects. She has participated in the Steering Committee of 1 international FP7 project and organized/coordinated 2 Workshops of ICES. She has supervised 1 B.Sc. thesis and the training of 23 BSc students. She has given lectures on fishing gears selectivity for MSc students. She has contributed in 53 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 15 book chapters, 2 books, 1 book as editor as well as more than 165 other publications (i.e., conference proceedings and abstracts, special publications, newspapers and magazine articles) and co-authored 80 technical reports.
