  • PhD in Freshwater Ecology, Department of Biological Applications and Technology, University of Ioannina (2011-2016)
Dr. Anthi’s Oikonomou research interests and experience lie in the broad field of macroecology, functional ecology and protection of freshwater fishes. The aim of her PhD thesis was the investigation of the macroecological and biogeographical patterns through taxonomical and functional diversity of freshwater fishes of the Balkans. During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she has been trained in the Department of Biology (University of Azores, Portugal) and ECOSYM- research unit (University of Montpellier 2, France). She has attended 8 special training courses in R programming language and data analysis. She has participated in 15 national and international projects and has contributed 7 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters, as well as more than 25 other publications (i.e., conference proceedings, presentations in scientific Workshops etc). Since 2016 until 2018 she held a teaching position (Academic scholar) for the course of Limnology (Freshwater ecosystems) in the Department of Biological Applications and Technology of the University of Ioannina. She has served as a reviewer in 6 international journals. She has been awarded for the most highlighted publication of 2014 from the Hellenic Ecological Society and for the Best poster presentation of the XIV European Congress of Ichthyology (2012). Since January 2018 she is a research associate in the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters. For more information and citations see Google Scholar Oikonomou.
