The aim of this project is to improve the National Methodology for chemical status assessment and propose new monitoring programs including new monitoring points and pollutants for measurement. The assignment is part of World Bank’s effort to support for the preparation of draft River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs) in Bulgaria. Specifically, the objectives are:

  • To improve the existing methodologies for assessing the chemical status of water bodies considering the influence of climatic parameters
  • To integrate the projected impacts of climate change into corresponding planning instruments at the River Basin Level.
  • To enhance capacity building by training experts from RBDs on the most appropriate methodologies for chemical status assessment.
