The main objectives of this project are: (1) Implement a network of fishery scientists with the aim to analyse data using a common methodology and to update the biology, dynamics and exploitation status of the red shrimps Aristaeomorpha foliacea and Aristeus antennatus. (2)Build up a single data base on red shrimps by integrating eleven years of survey data (1994-2004; GRUND and MEDITS) gathered in seven geographical sub-areas of the Central & Eastern Mediterranean. (3) Perform a “synchronic” (1 year) analysis to get a recent picture of the status of the resources and put in evidence the present gradients (both North-South and West-East). (4) Perform a “diachronic” (1994-2004) comparison of the deep-sea shrimps “status”, amongst the seven GFCM-GSA, in order to study any temporal change in the overall pattern.
