The program aims to organize a number of workshops (WS) to propose the development of suitable indicators to monitor the status of littoral ecosystems in various areas of the world, using the cosmopolitan species Mugil cephalus which exhibits a wide spreading in such ecosystems.
The program aims to organize a number of workshops (WS) to propose the development of suitable indicators to monitor the status of littoral ecosystems in various areas of the world, using the cosmopolitan species Mugil cephalus which exhibits a wide spreading in such ecosystems. The indicators that will be selected for future development will be related to particular biological and ecological parameters, as well as others derived from genetic studies in the various regions, identifying at the same time the gaps in knowledge.
The final aim will be the construction of a STREP proposal that will then offer the possibility to test the effectiveness of those indicators and in particular their sensitivity, robustness and reliability in tracking environmental changes, in order to be used as management tools in such ecosystems.
