Weather forecasting services (i-alarm)
The project aims to provide detailed weather forecasting services to a multi-hazard early warning system which has been developed for use in the cross-border regions of northwestern Greece and southern Albania. The early warning system is based on historical and new hydro-meteorological observations and modelling systems. Weather variables associated with specific aspects of the local atmospheric conditions (including air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation and wind conditions) and fire weather indices derived from such weather variables are produced on a daily basis for supporting decisions to manage the prevision and initiate firefighting engagements.
