His research interests include Ecosystem modeling, Fisheries ecology, Fisheries discards, Hydroacoustics, Distribution and behaviour of small pelagic and mesopelagic fish, Fisheries impacts.He has acted as coordinator, HCMR scientific responsible and/or Task/WP leader in eight projects and has participated in more than thirty additional national and international projects.
He has attended special training courses in ecosystem modelling, stock assessment, hydroacoustics.He has given lectures on Ecosystem Based Management and on the Mesopelagic Zone and has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate theses on these fields. He serves in the Editorial Board of the Mediterranean Marine Science journal.
He has contributed 38 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters, as well as more than 60 other publications (i.e., conference proceedings, presentations in scientific Workshops etc) and co-authored more than 18 technical reports.
