Maria Koutsodimou is Biologist and a member of the scientific personnel at the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters of the HCMR (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research) in Athens.
Her recent research interests are on the Integrated Water Management and include topics related to the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EU) in Greek rivers, reference conditions and classification of surface inland waters, evaluation of the ecological status of Greek rivers, identification and classification of freshwater benthic diatoms.
She has participated in numerous national and international research projects on Marine Biology (Biochemistry – Histology), Environmental (Water) Microbiology and Ecological Conservation.
She is a member of the scientific personnel at the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters of the HCMR (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research).
She is interested in Environmental Education and has contributed to relevant national and international projects, targeting both students of all levels and adults (citizen science).
