In the framework of the research project “Epirus Waters”, implemented by the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters (IMBRIW) and funded by the Green Fund, members of the project team carried out educational activities with students and teachers in the areas of Kalpaki, Parakalamos and Konitsa of Epirus region from October 30th to November 1st, 2024.

120 students of primary and secondary education participated in total. The aim of the activities was to raise awareness on water quality issues and management of aquatic ecosystems, as well as to help students understand the use of the automatic water monitoring stations that have been installed in the area as part of the project.

During the activities, the students had the opportunity to watch measurements of physicochemical parameters, get familiar with aquatic organisms which act as bioindicators of water quality and participate to experiential games related to the functioning of river ecosystem. (… … Read more)
