Official Launch of the European Project STEPS – SCIENCE FOR GROWTH-EMPOWERING MINDS
The official launch of the pioneering European project STEPS – SCIENCE FOR GROWTH-EMPOWERING MINDS, funded by the prestigious Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) framework, will take place on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Senate Hall of the Gallos Campus in Rethymno.
The STEPS project focuses on scientific empowerment and cultivating a “Growth Mindset” among male and female researchers, as well as educators and students. Through the synergy of humanities, natural, and environmental sciences, the program aspires to develop innovative psychometric tools, specialized training programs through the Center for Education and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) of the University of Crete, and groundbreaking methodologies with a long-term social and scientific impact.

The Kick-Off Meeting, which will be held in a hybrid format (in person and online) from 11:00 to 14:00, marks the beginning of a dynamic collaboration between leading institutions and organizations in the country: the University of Crete, the Technical University of Crete, and the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR). The objective of the meeting is the full coordination of the research teams, the analysis of the Work Packages, and the allocation of immediate implementation actions.
HCMR participates in the project with an impressive team of 15 specialized scientists and researchers, covering a wide range of fields from Biology and Ichthyology to Physical and Geological Oceanography, and Hydrology.
