The present study aims at improving the in year management of small pelagic in Aegean Sea (Eastern Mediterranean Sea) and identifying appropriate areas for the management of fishing effort. This will be achieved by compiling and analyzing all relevant data concerning anchovy and sardine stocks in the Aegean Sea that have been collected within the framework of several past European and National Projects (1995 to 2000) as well as data that are currently being collected in the framework of the “Greek National Program of Fisheries Data Collection”. These results will be used in an effort to adequately assess the stocks and will be presented along with different management options in the scientific meetings of the GFCM.
