ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING OF THE COASTAL AREA OF KINETA AND NEA PERAMOS

This is a Monitoring Programme of the coastal areas of Kineta, Nea Peramos and Alepochori of the West Attica Prefecture, which aims to evaluate the natural and anthropogenic environmental pressures of the area, emphasizing to natural disasters, and to suggest the best practices in order to optimize the natural wealth of the coastal ecosystem of Western Attica.

The purpose of the research project is the comprehensive scientific investigation to ascertain the causes regarding:

– the pressures that the coastal environment of the region receives, both directly from anthropogenic factors, and indirectly from the ever-increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters, as well as to propose ways of best management practices with a view to short-term, as well as long-term utilization of the natural beauty and richness of the sensitive coastal ecosystem of Western Attica,

– the design of technical restoration solutions, as well as

– the monitoring of the above man-made and natural phenomena that pose a serious threat both to the coastal environment of the region and to public health.
