Since 2025, Ioanna Xynogala has held a position at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) within the project “WFD monitoring of the Greek surface waters (2024-2029)”. Her main responsibilities include the application of specialised methodologies for the assessment of the hydromorphological condition of river ecosystems. She is a PhD candidate at the Department of Biology, University of Patras. She holds a BSc in Oceanography and Marine Biosciences, University of the Aegean and a MSc in Applied Ecology: Ecosystem and Biological Resources Management, University of Patras. Her main research interests focus on Freshwater Ecology, specifically on the assessment of ecological quality and the conservation of biodiversity and geodiversity in fluvial ecosystems.
