BIODIVERSITY MONITORING AND PROPOSED MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT PLANS OF ALMYROPOTAMOS WETLAND (FTHIOTIDA REGIONAL UNIT)
The main objectives of the project are:
– To identify and record the anthropogenic pressures within the wetland’s basin that degrade its water quality and its aquatic organisms
– To assess the ecological status of the wetland based on biological, physicochemical and hydromorphological parameters
– To create a database for the wetland, with all the necessary environmental and biological data according to the Water Framework Directive.
– To propose management and restoration (where deemed necessary) actions that will improve the wetland and its surrounding area
– To inform and raise awareness among the public about the environmental value and the need to preserve the Almyropotamos wetland.
