His research interests cover a range of issues, many of which fall with in the scope of Marine ecology, systematic and conservation of marines hallow habitats. He is a member of Scientific Diving Team of Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR), with great experience in underwater photography and visual census. He is also specialized in biology, ecology and systematic of benthic species (polychaetes). In addition, he has great experience in in designing new sampling devices and experimental set ups for under water experiments and sampling hard bottom communities.

Dr. Chatzigeorgiou Georgios has so far 32 publications in peer review journals and 22 oral or poster presentations in national and international conferences. He has contracted in 18 national and European projects from 2002 until today. He is specialized on hard substrate and polychaete diving sampling expeditions. In the last few years, he deals with non-in digenous species especially in hot spot are as (i.e. ports) and mapping micro benthic fauna and habitats with no destructives techniques. Other scientific interests are functional-genetic diversity and community succession inartificial substrates (reefs).
