Maria Laiaki holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology & Geoenvironment and a MSc in Atmospheric and Geological environment for infrastructure design. She currently holds the position of Research assistant in the Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters (IMBRIW) of HCMR since 2013. Among her research fields are: Data Collection, fisheries management, mapping of essential fish habitats, MPA management, exploration and exploitation of mineral and energy resources, geological engineering, geological mapping, geophysics, applied geophysics methods. She is responsible for building and maintaining GIS databases and utilizing the GIS software to analyze the spatial and non-spatial information in the databases. She has taken part in numerous scientific researches and studies in Greece.
