NΕphrops and CΕtacean Species Selection Infromation and TechnologY.The objective of the project is the improvement of the bottom trawl in order to reduce the discards and the by-catch in the Nephrops fishery. The role of HCMR Crete is to investigate alternative tactics in particular the use of traps. This will involve collating information n existing trap fisheries in Greece and selectivity experiments for Nephrops fishery with 2 tap designs. This work will complement the work done by HCMR Athens on net selectivity.
