The isotope group of HCMR participated at the 2nd Research Coordination Meeting (RCM) of the IAEA F32010 “Improving Understanding of Nitrate Sources in Connected River and Groundwater Systems Through Linking Nitrate Isotopes and Contaminants of Emerging Concern” project that was organized by the IAEA virtually, in 2-5 April 2024.
During the meeting, the group presented the progress of the Greek project in Kifissos River catchment and the preliminary findings regarding the water quality degradation in the river.
The group also agreed to continue the collection of samples from the monitoring sites until April 2024 to be analyzed for nitrate isotopes (δ15N and δ18O of NO3–), Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) and selected hydrochemical parameters.
