The project investigated the physicochemical, chemical and biological conditions of the artificial reservoirs of Aoos Springs and Pournari and recorded human activities and sources of pollution in the Aoos and Arachthos river basins. The biological study involved the study of phytoplankton, zooplankton, invertebrate fauna (in streams that flow into the reservoir of Aoos Springs) and fish populations (reproduction, diet, ecological requirements etc.). The project included a study on fisheries in the two reservoirs and suggested actions that are compatible with the prevailing biological and hydrographic conditions and do not disturb the ecological balance.
